It’s safe to say that we all were shocked about the news that Divergent‘s final film, Ascendant, wouldn’t be hitting theaters as planned, the cast was even more shocked.
“It caught us all by surprise,” Miles Teller shared with THR. “At this point, it’s a different set of circumstances. We’ll see. I honestly haven’t talked to anybody,” he added about returning for the project where he plays Peter.
“Things do change anytime they’re messing with something that was not the original intention,” he continued. “We all signed on for it in hopes that it’d be released in theaters, and we all had every intention of finishing [the franchise].”
The plan, which was discussed with Variety, is to wrap up the series as a TV movie, which would then transition into a TV series.
“We got excited about the possibility of what the series could look like — resolving the novel in a season across 10 to 13 episodes and then expanding from there into multiple seasons,” Lionsgate TV Group Chair Kevin Beggs said.
